Jerry Donald Gibbs Sr., 87, born, December 3, 1929, in East Saint Louis, Illinois, passed away, Sunday morning, July 2, 2017 in Fairview Heights, Illinois.

Jerry possessed a charismatic personality and was a joyous person to be around. He was a dedicated and very proud man. He made sure that his family's happiness was his top priority. Jerry proudly served his country in the United States Navy, having served at the peak of Korean War. Jerry Donald Gibbs Sr., 87, born, December 3, 1929, in East Saint Louis, Illinois, passed away, Sunday morning, July 2, 2017 in Fairview Heights, Illinois.

Jerry possessed a charismatic personality and was a joyous person to be around. He was a dedicated and very proud man. He made sure that his family's happiness was his top priority. Jerry proudly served his country in the United States Navy, having served at the peak of Korean War. He married the love of his life Catherine Togias, on August 30, 1952 and to this union brought two children. He retired from AT&T after working in sales and various positions for over 25 years. Jerry was a man of faith, having served as a long time member at Peace Lutheran Church. Jerry also served as a Fairview Heights, Illinois Alderman and a Caseyville Township Assessor. He also enjoyed playing golf and watching his favorite baseball team, the Saint Louis Cardinals. He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will truly be missed and truly unforgettable to all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, of 64 years, Catherine (nee Togias) Gibbs; his parents, William and Edith (nee Gillison) Gibbs and his siblings, Robert Gibbs, Fleetwood Gibbs, Maxine Rhymer and Nadine Weyhert.

Surviving are his loving children; Denise Gibbs and Jerry (Colleen) Gibbs Jr.; his grandchildren, Erick (Becca Lemmons) von Wurmb, Jordan (Tom Bouseman) von Wurmb, Graham O'Connell Gibbs and Elliot O'Connell Gibbs; his great grandchildren, Elise von Wurmb, Skyler von Wurmb, Zoe Bouseman and Rose Bouseman and a dear number of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Visitation: Friends and family may visit from 10 am to 12 Noon, Friday, July 7, 2017 at Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, Illinois.

Funeral Service: Funeral Services will begin immediately following the visitation at 12pm, Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, Illinois. Interment will take place in Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, Illinois.
