Viola B. Engler, nee Cast, 100, of Swansea, Illinois, born November 8, 1914, in Mascoutah, Illinois, passed away, Wednesday, March 25, 2015, at Sycamore Village, Swansea, Illinois.

Viola was a longtime resident of Belleville, Illinois. She enjoyed spending time at her clubhouse on the Kaskaskia River and tending to her gardens. She was a hard worker and never shied away from helping family and friends. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, who will truly be missed by all who knew her.

Viola B. Engler, nee Cast, 100, of Swansea, Illinois, born November 8, 1914, in Mascoutah, Illinois, passed away, Wednesday, March 25, 2015, at Sycamore Village, Swansea, Illinois.

Viola was a longtime resident of Belleville, Illinois. She enjoyed spending time at her clubhouse on the Kaskaskia River and tending to her gardens. She was a hard worker and never shied away from helping family and friends. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, who will truly be missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Harry L. Engler; a grandson, David Sutherland; her parents, Gustav and Mary, nee Ott, Cast; and two sisters, Augusta Barttelbort and Lillian Lesker.

Surviving are her children, Ronald A. Engler, of Swansea, Illinois and Susan (Paul) Sutherland, of Belleville, Illinois; her former daughter-in-law, Marlene Engler; grandchildren, Eric (Courtney) Engler, Nicole Engler, and Steven (Cheryl) Sutherland; great grandchildren, Davis, Graham, Erin, Kelsey, Amanda, Paige, and Alyssa; a sister, Margie Morse, of Wright City, Missouri, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the nurses and caregivers at Sycamore Village in Swansea, for their care and compassion over the last several years.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m., Sunday, March 29, 2015, at Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, Illinois.

Funeral: Services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, March 30, 2015 at the funeral home, with Rev. Drew Kramer officiating. Interment will follow in Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, Illinois.
